Inspiration: Mockingjays are a symbol of rebellion in Panem, as they were a species of bird that were never meant to exist. They can perfectly copy any human tune and will fall silent when they respect the singer. Katniss wears a Mockinjay pin as a token during the Hunger Games and soon becomes the face of the rebellion herself.
